Today we have greater post-processing controls, but the principle remains that established techniques produce results.Photographing artwork places special demands on the equipment employed. Small cameras such as digital SLRs, even professional models, are not up to the job when large reproductions may be required.
Martin Urmson employs a Phase One p65+ digital back which uses the largest image sensor currently available at 54 x 40mm.. This is two-and-a-half times the size of a full-frame dSLR, or six times the size of consumer models.
Used in conjunction with a monorail camera or the Mamiya medium format system, the Phase One produces the best available sharpness and colour fidelity available.
